My wife and I live in Vegas so there is no shortage of casinos, but when we do go, we have a set spending limit and go for entertainment more than anything else. However I usually don't play slots, but play poker. My wife loves to play video poker and usualy does well, but again she doesn't get carried away with it. I agree with the previous commenter. That is the right attitude to take. It’s what I do any time (once or twice a year, maybe?) I go to a casino somewhere.

For me, slot machines aren’t very fun so I generally play the higher-stakes games like roulette or blackjack at $5 or $10 a round. But I still set my limit of about $100 for the night.

I go in thinking, “I’m prepared to spend this $100 to entertain myself” and if I come back with anything it’s a bonus.

Funnily enough, after a few decent-sized wins, I’m probably in the black ink at casinos over my entire life.
