It is too easy not to try. I've been a loyal Comcast customer for about 5 years now, and while cable prices can be high, there is really no reason to pay full price. We have almost switched to the dish on a few occasions, but that is simply because we live so far out in the country that Comcast doesn't have HDTV channels for us yet, so getting a dish is tempting. But for now a 20 dollar antenna picks up all of our locals in HD so that should hold us over until they upgrade our cable feed.

Way to be persistent! I read an article about this last year in Smart Money magazine and had the same results you did with Comcast, cut my bill by half! I was so excited I told everyone I knew how easy it was to save hundreds of dollars in minutes.

Make sure you check back once your promotional rate ends. My 12 months just finished up in October. They automatically started me on a new promotion for cable, pretty cool, but my broadband service went back to the normal rate. They told me to call back in a month and they'd give me a better deal.

I couldnt agree more. I just got my most recent cable bill from TimeWarner and we were paying $52 for basic cable WITHOUT a digital box. In the same envelope, they were selling digital service, with some extra tier, for $44.95. Huh? So I called them, and the woman was very nice and gave me digital cable, with the extra tier, PLUS all the Encore movie channels, for $39.95 per month for 12 months. It never hurts to ask!
