One of the most intriguing possibilities involves a heat reclaimer. In most cases this nifty gadget will provide enough warmth for an attic or basement without adding a cent to the fuel bill. It works by utilizing waste heat.

Here's how: A heat reclaimer hooks in place between furnace and chimney. It extracts most of the heat that is normally lost and blows it through a duct to warm any area in the house.

What a great article!

I have found a great way to fix my problem room that is always way too cold in the winter. A vent booster called the AirFlow Breeze is plugged into my existing vent and it draws additional heat into my room without raising the temp. on my thermostat. My utility bills have dropped and I am also saving a lot of energy which makes me feel better about my choices.
I am serious about the difference, especially now that it has gotten colder. You should really check it out at www.aftproducts.com.

If you own a home, condo or townhouse something that you should look into is the efficiency of your heating and air conditioning system - especially if you heating system is over 10 years old. You might be thinking "how can I tell that?" you can tell by the SEER rating the higher the SEER the more efficient it is you should be looking for a SEER rating of 13-18.

How does this help? well...
This will help heat you house better, be nicer to the environment and the best part... put money back in your pocket!

Installed properly and depending on the efficiency you could save $40-$50 a month.

And Keep replacing those filters!! Most people don't think about that but it helps the air flow and helps to maintain your heating and cooling system. We recommend the standard blue filters changed once a month.

Oh, and one more thing. A programmable thermostat can help save you money while at work! Isn't that great? I love it!

Good point webomatica, and that one is most likely free. No need to keep it at 72+ when you can throw on some sweatpants and socks/slippers and still be quite comfortable when the temperature lower.

Another quick tip that we personally employ is to break out the blankets and sweaters - no better way to save money on heating bills than turn on the heat as little as possible :)
