Did you know that the Science Friday on NPR is the best programming available on radio? Ok, maybe that is just my opinion, but it is the best part of Friday for me. If you are interested in various science topics, I encourage you to give it a listen. If you don’t have a radio available when it plays live, they have podcasts you can download from the website. With that, on with the links…

The Cost of Living for a Family of Four - How much does it really cost to provide for a family of four? You might be shocked to see what that number can be in places like California.
Why do People Sign up for Netflix? - Well for us, we use Netflix because we live in the middle of nowhere and there isn’t a decent rental store within 20+ miles. So, it just makes sense to have movies delivered.
Don’t Feel Bad for Keeping Things Simple - Getting your financial house in order doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes a simple plan is the best plan.
Why Are People so Ignorant About Money? - I don’t have an answer for that since I wonder the same thing. You don’t have to be a financial genius, but a lot of people just seem apathetic when it comes to their own money.

8 Steps to a Six Figure Career - Hopefully I can reach that point soon. I got off to a late start when I tried the entrepreneurial path the first 3 years out of college, but that six figure goal is right around the corner, I can feel it! Here are some great tips to help you reach that milestone.
Will a Share of Google be Worth More Than an Ounce of Gold? - It looks like that may be a possibility soon. I’m still kicking myself for not picking up a few shares back during the IPO.

Don’t think of the entrepreneurial path as a late start - I actually think that’s worth trying. I’ve never tried it, personally, but I think everyone ought to try it once in this life. At least if you’re going to try it, try it when you’re young and have less to risk!
Thanks very much for the mention! I agree that SVB’s article at the Digerati Life was outstanding.
You’re right Brip Blap, it isn’t so much a late start as a change in career path. Instead of jumping right into my field after college and getting the early experience under my belt, I tried something new.
Had the venture been successful, I would have shaved years off of the career path, but since it wasn’t, it just shifted my focus. And it actually turned out to be a fantastic experience that altered my career completely. If I was doing what I set out to do in college, I’d be working 60 hours a week designing on CAD and making only half the money. So it all works out!
In some parts of California making low six-figures is not enough to live very well. You need to make at least $200K to live decently.
It’s so difficult to reach that milestone!
Netflix - big fan. My reasons - it saves us money, as we don’t need to have cable (yes, imagine that). It only makes sense if you watch more than three movies a month, which isn’t that hard to do.
