I love music, and I often take it for granted, but I realized how much I enjoy it earlier this week. I love high quality sound, and for about the last five years, I’ve always enjoyed the sound that comes from my Klipsch Promedia 5.1 computer sound system. It is fantastic, but on Tuesday when I went to fire up my music player, I was shocked to find there wasn’t any sound coming from the speakers. After some basic troubleshooting, it was clear that the amplifier that is built into the subwoofer has gone bad. Looks like it is a fairly common problem after browsing the Klipsch support forums. So for now, until I can ship the board to someone to have it repaired, I’m stuck listening to music through a pair of tiny speakers that look like they came from 1996. They sound about as good as listening to headphones at full volume.
Since I do everything to music while at my computer, I forgot that a long time ago I had created a profile at Last.fm to keep tabs on my listening history. I had completely forgot about this, but it was interesting to look at my profile and see what I’ve been listening to. If you aren’t familiar with Last.fm, it is a service that utilizes a plugin for your media player such as winamp, iTunes, WMP, or whatever, and it logs your listening history to share with others on the web. From there, you can make friends, listen to other people’s music, and discover new bands. If you want, you can visit my profile on last.fm. If you already have a profile, feel free to add me as a friend, or leave a comment here with your user name. I’m always on the lookout for new music. But enough about music, it is time for the links.

Another great music site is http://www.pandora.com/. You can tell it what type of music you like and it will play that music as well as other bands it thinks you might like. It’s a great way to find new bands and artists.
