In my opinion asset allocation does not take place in a vacuum, or rather it should not take place in a vacuum. One has to consider many factors like one’s age, specific needs, risk attitudes, and which risks to control. I think these things which you mention in your list drive asset allocation, don’t they?

Ya i totally agree with craig, according to me mutual fund is very safe investment but people who are ready to invest for long term investment then only go for mutual fund investment.
