Also, you are purchasing propane as a metered gas similar to natural gas service (not by the liquid gallon), which has advantages and disadvantages. To make an apples and apples comparison, you need to be buying propane for home use in bulk (per gallon). Of course when we moved in it was on empty so that was quite a surprise when we had that filled up. The bad news is that we waited until it started to get cold last year and filled up in September, right near the highest price for the year.
