I don’t get why people do not file taxes correctly or try to cheat there way out of paying taxes. I don’t like paying taxes nor do I believe we should be paying so much, but the IRS does not mess around.

Very informative article, thanks! Some people also forget to mention certain things like side incomes that may generate money in cash value…Those things should be filed as well. Taxes can be really simple for some and for those who have more things to claim, it can get pretty complex so I would just resort to a CPA to be on the safe side.

Great post, Jeremy. One of the silliest errors I see from new business owners and from young people in general is just not filing. Maybe they’re intimidated by the complexity of the tax system, maybe they don’t make the time, maybe they’re just bad at paperwork. Whatever the reason, it is a big mistake! As you mentioned, not filing is one of the fraudulent activities that can get you in hot water. Also, the IRS has a three year statute of limitations to audit your return; but the three years don’t begin until you file!
