Fall is rapidly approaching, and you know what that means. Cooler temperatures, weekends completely wasted watching TV, and tailgate parties. That’s right, it is almost time for football! 9 days and counting until our fantasy football draft and I couldn’t be more excited. How can anyone be worried about the stock market when we’re so close to gridiron action?
If you aren’t as stoked about the upcoming football season and the market is on your mind, be sure to take the poll that asks what action you’re taking in response to the current market conditions. Otherwise, enjoy these fine articles from the past week.
Money Mistakes to Avoid: Procrastination – This is an important one for me as I’m the biggest procrastinator in the world. Ben has some good advice that can hopefully help kick your but into gear.
Seven Helpful Tips When Moving – Gather Little by Little has some great tips to help make that move as easy as possible. Having moved about 8 times in the past 10 years, I must say, I wish I had someone giving me tips. I never want to move again.
It’s Okay to Spend Money – That’s right, it really is. It is easy to get caught up in trying to save money and make wise spending decisions, but sometimes you just have to spend a little. Life is short, you’re entitled to have a little fun. Nickel has a short and sweet reminder for us all.
What Low-Income Earners Can Do To Get Off Minimum Wage – Sure, maybe in the game of life you were dealt a few bad cards; it happens, but sitting around and complaining about your luck won’t do a darn thing. Take some advice from SVB and make a difference in your life.
The Market Needs Nothing – That’s right, the market is efficient and is priced according to what is going on with companies and the global economy. We can use tricks like rate cuts to try and make the situation better, but in the end, the market will continue to chug along and do whatever is should be doing.
iiProperty Tracks Your Rental Properties – If you are a landlord, you should check out this review. I don’t currently have any rentals, but I can definitely see how a service like this could be very helpful.
Lending Tree Review: Do You Really Win? – Jim does a good review of Lending Tree. I’m sure you’ve seen their commercials on TV, but how does their service stack up?
Life is Like a Game of Chess – I’m embarrassed to say that I have never played chess before. It is actually on my list of things to learn this coming winter. Either way, life is a lot like chess, or any strategy game for that matter.
Finding the Winner in Market Turmoil – When everything seems to be going down, it can be hard to find those hidden gems that aren’t following the trend. Sometimes you have to simply look for the best of the worst.
Who’s to Blame for America’s Mortgage Mess – If you ask me, more blame has to be on greedy and materialistic borrowers who bit off more than they could chew. Were there some shady mortgage brokers out there? Sure, but there has to be some sort of personal responsibility. Unless you were blatantly lied to, or have encountered some unforeseen illness or event that prevents you from making your mortgage payments, I don’t have much sympathy for you.
Are You Blind to Your Own Strengths? – Sometimes it is hard to take a good look at yourself to realize your own strengths. Steve goes into detail and shares a personal story. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, but you need to be able to identify them in order to improve yourself.
