We finally replaced some of the builder-standard fixtures (hooray gift cards!) and what a difference it made! Even inexpensive fixtures look loads better to buyers than the bottom-of-the-barrel builder fixtures. Then we changed the bulbs, and that made each room look totally different (some in a not so good way...). Easy, cheap fix. I completely second taking a closer look at lighting.
