We only have free tv, no car payments NEVER go out barely have enough to buy groceries, some weeks we dont, we raise our own chickens, who have been hit hard by bronchitis and animals of prey and have 4 children who melt our hearts. We dont have $50 to save each week because we dont have $50. We both work full time jobs and leave before the sun comes up and come home after it has set. Other then selling things on ebay, which we are doing, what else can we do?

Saving just $50 a week really can be done when you cut out frivolous spending. Another great tip is to use a Christmas budget worksheet so you can plan your expenses and budget accordingly.

For this Christmas families should forget about purchasing presents but should instead spend the time reaching out to each other. For the past eleven months everyone have been trying to make two ends meet so spending this time reflecting and encouraging each other will be much better.

Nice suggestion... Planning ahead really helps with regards to Christmas shopping. Those who wait to the bitter end, usually spend significantly more!

The most important part is sticking to your budget. $50 a week is awesome, if people can stick to that then starting now they should be in decent shape, just a few less meals out a week. Check our holiday section out for more budgeting ideas http://www.offers.com/holiday/budget/

These are good ideas for people who are not frugal- but we don't eat out, make our own coffee at home, have minimal TV and phone service as it is, we already entertain at home and already shop only deals on groceries and gasoline. We grow most of our own vegetables and have frozen them for the winter since our season is over. My husband can't work right now due to illness (he's been off work since April) and we are really struggling over Christmas.

Love the article. Just had a random thought. The best time to buy Christmas gifts is actually 1 day after christmas day. So i guess the way to have the most econimical of christmas’s would be buy this year for next year. Again though with the current economic climate how many people can afford to buy for next year this year? Anyway, here’s to a good one. I’ve got all my christmas gifts already this year, brought all from the same place http://www.therandomshop.co.uk to save on postage!

It is really easy to save $50.00 a week. I think many people don't realize how much they actually blow each week on nonsense.

Staying more local and eating out less will help. By earlier to save on deals and in the short term could also focus some additional savings to presents from other areas like a vacation.
