Well, we’re back from Vegas, and I must say, it’s good to be home. Five days at that place was more than enough. The good news is that even though I had budgeted a good deal of money to be lost in gambling, we actually came out ahead about $150. Not bad considering the length of time we spent there. But we also didn’t go very crazy, and most of the time was spent at lower limit blackjack and three card poker tables So, looking at what we actually spent, and since didn’t lose, we came in well under budget.
I also wanted to take a minute to thank the guest posters who kept the site going while I was away. The gracious guest posters were:
- CD Ladders
- Mighty Bargain Hunter
- Financial Wellness Project
- Budgets Are Sexy
- Personal Finance Analyst
Check Out My Radio Spot
In other news, I was on the Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow radio show on KUAR FM 89 out of Little Rock. This show combines three different generations to explore each perspective of a specific topic. In this case, the topics we discussed were stocks, bonds, and investing. I represented the younger generation, Dr. Robert Aliber, author of The New International Money Game, represented the older generation, and Dr. Larry Holland represented the middle generation.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun to hear different insights to a similar topic and to see how things have changed over the years. You can listen to the entire show by downloading the MP3. It’s about 40 minutes long, but if you’re curious about the different outlooks on investing, it’s worth a listen.
It’s Been Two Years
In all of the excitement of the markets this month and going on vacation, I completely forgot that October marked the two year anniversary of this site. I don’t know where the time goes, but if you would have told me two years ago that I’d still be going strong with this site among others, I would have said you’re crazy. To celebrate, I’m thinking about doing a giveaway or contest, but I haven’t had much time to think about what to give away. So, I’m going to ask you. What would you like to see in a giveaway? Some sort of financial software? Books? Subscription to some sort of service? I don’t really do these very often, so I’m not sure what people would find value with. So, leave a comment and we’ll try to hash out something fun.
